MORGANTOWN--West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart praised kicker Tyler Bitancurt and free safety Robert Sands Monday for earning Big East Conference player of the week honors following the emotional victory over Pitt in the Backyard Brawl on Friday.

"That's great for Tyler Bitancurt (special teams POW) and Sands (defensive POW), I didn't know about that," Stew said as he got on the line during the league's last football Monday teleconference.
