Chow stays home - part I
UCLA fans can all breathe a sigh of relief as Bruin offensive coordinator Norm Chow has chosen to stay the course with the Bruins with the goal to help get the program get to the next level. The Bruins had to fight off interest in Chow from his former employer and UCLA's archrival USC. This part one of two parts.
Chow: "I'm awfully excited what's on here (UCLA). I feel badly. I know there were requests for me to return calls. There was really nothing for me to report at the time. After some consideration and all that. We're just awfully glad we made a decision to stay and we're excited about what the future will bring here. It's challenging. It's exciting and we're looking forward to it. We have a great group of young people willing to work. We understand the challenges and we are looking forward to that."
Did Lane Kiffin ever actually speak to you or did it all come through your agent?
Chow: "No, no, no, Lane made several phone calls, several attempts. We were out of town. It is kind of interesting because we had gone off to see some very dear friends, because of the dead period went off to Florida to Marco Island, Florida. We had never been there before. Our friends retired there. The gal that we were with wasn't feeling to hot and spent some time in the hospital. Between the emergency room and this crazy phone, Lane tried to call and then there was some calls made to my son.
