Bulldogs begin spring practice
Mississippi State opened up their second spring under head coach Dan Mullen on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs worked for around two and a half hours in helmets only giving the second year head coach his first look at the 2010 roster.
"It feels great to be back out here," Mullen said. "It's been a long time since we've been out here practicing. Our guys had a great offseason and put in a lot of work in the offseason but it's great to get back out here and start doing some football again."
Mullen made his head coaching debut last spring and spent most of the spring getting players acclimated to his new system. Tuesday he was able to notice a drastic improvement with how smoothly the practice went.
"Last year's practice was their first time doing it," Mullen said. "Even though this is the first spring practice for a lot of our freshmen, they have been through practices all fall. The older guys have been through spring ball and they know what to expect. There is not a questioning look when that whistle blows. They know where they are going and going to get there fast."
The offense worked primarily on passing during the first session with quarterback front runners Chris Relf, Tyler Russell and Daniel Stegall taking most of the snaps.
