Carr starting to pick up offers
Coming off a team state championship in track last week, Cedar Rapids Washington junior Alex Carr was already riding high, but then got even more good news when his first scholarship offers started rolling in. The 5-foot-9, 162-pound Carr picked up an offer from North Dakota on Tuesday and followed that up with an offer from South Dakota on Wednesday.
Both FCS schools see Carr using his speed at cornerback in college. Last week, he finished third in the 100 meter dash in Class 4A with a time of 11.15 seconds and led his 4x100, 4x200, and Distance Medley teams to top three finishes as well.
Among the spectators in attendance at the state track meet was Iowa assistant coach Reese Morgan, who handles the in-state recruiting efforts for the Hawkeyes. Morgan and Carr have stayed in close contact this spring as the Iowa coaching staff continues to evaluate the Cedar Rapids native.
