Sooners Continuing to Hunt on South Dakota Prairie
Starting with the signing of Josh Heupel in February of 1999 few schools have focused more attention on the Mount Rushmore State than Oklahoma. In the class of 2003 the Sooners landed an early commitment from Ryan Schuler of South Dakora but eventually Schuler would stay closer to home and sign with Nebraska."Finally if there was an award for most improved player from year to year it's hard to argue that it would belong in the hands of Sioux Falls (S.D.) Washington massive offensive tackle Derek Farniok. Last year the big man looked awkward and too thin to be a legitimate major college but this year he has filled out and looks to have grown into his big body; looking much more fluid and athletic moving his feet both in drills and pass-protection," SoonerScoop.com reported at the time.
For Oklahoma's latest commitment, Derek Farniok, they not only went back to the far north but to the same high school and position as Schuler.
The 6-foot-9, 319-pound offensive tackle from Sioux Falls Washington showed up at Oklahoma's camp on Saturday looking like one of the most improved players SoonerScoop.com could remember from his 2009 camp performance to 2010.
