Big All-Star performance for Woodson
Last Saturday, Mobile (AL) wide receiver Danny Woodson helped his Alabama team to a thrilling 24-17 double overtime victory over the Mississippi squad in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic. The Crimson Tide commitment capped off an impressive week of practices by finishing the game as the leading receiver, on either team.
"The Alabama-Mississippi game went well," Woodson said. "I had seven catches for 72 yards. Practice went real well. Basically, I just went out there to compete with my teammates and we tried to make each other better. I bonded with the whole team. "
Fellow Alabama wide receiver commits Marvin Shinn and Daryl Collins were among the teammates Woodson got to know. Woodson said the week of practice gave him a taste of what to expect at the college level.
"It was a tremendous feeling to go out there and compete with those guys," said Woodson. "With Daryl Collins, I didn't know him as well going into the game, but we started to build a relationship there. I'm just really looking forward to continuing to compete with those guys."
Woodson worked on improving several aspects of his game as a senior at LeFlore High School.
"My senior season went well," Woodson said. "We didn't finish out the way we wanted to, but I enjoyed it. Throughout the season, I improved my leadership, awareness, speed, and route running. I tried to be a momentum swinger and keep the team energized."
With the season over, Woodson is now focused solely on the Crimson Tide.
"My official visit for Alabama is set for the weekend of January 21 as far as I know. I don't have any other visits set up right now. I don't think I'll take any more besides Alabama. There's not a lot that would change anything for me. I want to play for Alabama and get my education."
The four star Woodson is ranked as the 6th best prospect from the state of Alabama in the 2011 recruiting cycle.
