Tickets in high demand for FSU-OU on Saturday

Registration for student tickets to Saturday's match-up between No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 5 Florida State opened up online at 5 p.m. on Sunday night. By 5:17 p.m. the entire allotment of 16,000 tickets was gone.

Both Universities had already sold out their allotment of tickets as Doak Campbell Stadium is expected to be filled to its 83,000-seat capacity.

With the game sold out Florida State players have fielded extra requests for tickets as it gets closer to Saturday's showdown.

"I've got people from China asking me for tickets," defensive tackle Evertt Dawkins joked on Tuesday. "We get our four for the game and there isn't going to be any extras. I heard student tickets ran out in 15 minutes, I had friends hitting me up asking about (tickets) but I can't do anything about it."

With tickets sold out by both schools' ticket offices, seats to the game have become a hot buy on the secondary online ticket market.

It has been the most searched event on Stubhub.com over the past two days, and the highest selling college football game on the site this week, as more than 2700 tickets are listed for sale.

"It's been among the top viewed and top searched events on our site over the last two days," StubHub public relations manager Joellen Ferrer told Warchant.com on Monday. "So it really speaks volumes to the fact that people are looking for tickets, they're searching for tickets, they maybe aren't yet willing to pull the trigger but you can certainly bet that fans will buying tickets throughout the week."

On Monday the game had the sixth most transactions among college football games this season, with LSU and Oregon in Cowboys Stadium atop the list, Notre Dame at Michigan second, followed by Alabama at Penn State, Georgia vs. Boise St in the Georgia Dome, and Nebraska at Wisconsin on October 10.

Ferrer said she expected FSU-OU to move into the fifth spot, with the potential to pass UGA and BSU as well, by the end of the week. It will also be the highest selling FSU game in the history of the site, which launched in 2000, surpassing last year's home game against Florida.

Tickets begin at $125.00 on StubHub. According to SeatGeek.com, which aggregates ticket listings from all over the internet into a single place, the average ticket price last week for the game was $225. Only Auburn at Clemson, with an average price of $238, has a higher average ticket price for ACC home games this season.

Quarterback EJ Manuel said knowing how quickly the student tickets sold out and the hype around the game have only added to the teams' motivation.

"It means a lot to us. Knowing that we have our fans here now," Manuel said on Monday. "Last year we went down to there place and I'm sure it was the same way there knowing that Florida State was coming to town, I'm sure there tickets sold really fast. Knowing our fans are taking it extremely serious like we are, knowing that we have that added support, that (fans) are behind us means the world to us."
