Key recruit switches commitment
Bossier City Parkway defensive tackle Antonio McGhee liked Louisiana Tech. Otherwise, he would not have committed there earlier in June.
Ultimately, though, he liked Tulane better. On Sunday evening, he confirmed that he had just told Louisiana Tech's coaches he had switched his commitment from the Bulldogs to the Green Wave.
McGhee, a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, is the first interior defensive lineman among Tulane's 14 commitments.
"You can't beat Tulane's academic program," he said. "Tulane has one of the best academic programs in the nation, and they have the brand new staff in. I feel a lot more comfortable around Tulane's staff than I did with Tech's staff. I like the city of New Orleans. There's just a vibe around there. Everybody's cool. There's no hatred. Everybody is just family down there. I liked my experience there."
McGhee visited Tulane on Saturday and half of Sunday. His primary recruiter was co-defensive coordinator/defensive line coach Jon Sumrall, and like most of Tulane's recent recruits, he loved the pedigree of head coach Curtis Johnson.
