Five things to watch in FSU's season opener

There may not be many intriguing matchups between No. 7 Florida State and FCS opponent Murray State on Saturday. However, with this being the Seminoles' first game of the season, there will be plenty to watch on FSU's side of the field. Here are five topics that should on every FSU fans mind this Saturday night in Doak Campbell Stadium.

5. The battle at field cornerback
With so many players returning from last year's team, there were very few starting positions up for grabs during August preseason practice. However, once Greg Reid was dismissed from the team the job at field cornerback opened up.
It quickly became a two-player battle between sophomore Nick Waisome and true freshman Ronald Darby. Despite Darby having superior size and speed, and getting rave reviews from his coaches and teammates, the ever-confident Waisome didn't back down and performed well in practice. During Monday's Jimbo Fisher press conference, the sophomore from Groveland, Fla. was named the starter. However, Fisher made it clear that Darby, a former Rivals100 member, will see plenty of playing time in the opener. As a result, it doesn't sound like Waisome has the job locked down just yet.
