Weekend Wrap: Richmond Edition
It's hard to imagine how a player can pass for 311 yards, complete 25 of 37 attempts, commit no turnovers, and still have many people wondering if he should be the starter. But that was the case yesterday in UVa's 43-19 season-opening win for junior Michael Rocco when compared to the late-game drive of sophomore transfer Phillip Sims.
On Saturday Rocco, who had the best sophomore season for any passer in Virginia history last year, became the 16th player in school history to reach the 3,000-yard mark for his career. All told, the 6-foot-3, 225 pound Rocco is now in the top 15 passing in the UVa record books.
