Making a case against the BCS computers











After the Oct. 6 upset loss to NC State it quickly became apparent that Florida State's hopes at a national championship were dashed. That conclusion wasn't reached as a result of there being too many undefeated teams in the final rankings, but because the BCS standings made it clear that the Seminoles were going to be on the outside looking in regardless of how the second half of the season played out.


How is it possible that a team that ranked No. 3 prior to a narrow one-point loss could be shut out of the national championship race with half a season still left to go?


The BCS computers, that's how.
