Every Thanksgiving, Bill Snyder went to his grandparents. Every Thanksgiving during his youth, the St. Joseph, Mo., native accompanied his mother to church and then they sat before a meal that he vividly remembers. It was a turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot rolls, cranberry sauce, and vegetables. Afterward, they'd hop into grandpa's car and take a ride.
