Column: Tough getting a handle on the 2012 Seminoles










Saturday's ACC Championship game showed exactly why Seminole fans are having such a hard time figuring out how they feel about this team.


For a half of football Florida State showed all the promise and potential that had many believing it was a national championship contender. And for a half of football Florida State looked like a mediocre team in a lousy conference.



Despite the Jekyll and Hyde performance on Saturday Florida State held on to win its 13th ACC Championship and earn a berth into the Jan. 1 Orange Bowl.


The glass half full crowd will embrace the program's conference championship, the first in seven years, and the 11-win season, the first in 12 years. The glass half empty bunch will point to the fact that FSU collapsed in the second half and nearly gave the game away despite completely dominating an overmatched opponent in the first half.


Hard to argue with either crowd.
