A closer look at FSU's recent offers

Florida State has extended nearly 200 total offers this year at nearly every end of the country. In the last few weeks, coaches have been very active, extending nearly 70 offers.

Warchant.com breaks down some of the intriguing offers and what it means to FSU.

QB/Ath William Ulmer
He's an electric and explosive athlete. He would be a quarterback in a spread offense. However, FSU is very high on his skill set to having the potential at this position. The 'Noles offered a few weeks ago and are in the mix, along with Georgia Tech. Ulmer is a game changer because of his quickness and speed. He plans to visit FSU late in the spring.

Running Back

Shai McKenzie

McKenzie is another offensive weapon targeted by Fisher, Sanders and Jay Graham. FSU likes his change of direction, leg drive and acceleration. He is plans to visit FSU this spring and always mentions the 'Noles first when talking about schools he plans to check out. Graham and Sunseri built an early relationship him, which is one of the reasons he is so high on FSU. He doesn't have a leader, but the main competition is Tennessee. Most close to the Rivals250 back feel that McKenzie won't stay close to home.

Others in the mix:

Mikel Horton, Daniel Gresham (Texas commitment), Joe Mixon

Wide Receiver

Markell Pack

Pack has a close relationship with FSU recruiting coordinator Tim Brewster, who is an ace recruiter in Mississippi. As soon as Brewster was on board at FSU, FSU immediately moved way up on Pack's board. He is a great leaper, fights through initial contact and very good out in space. He plans to visit FSU during the spring or summer. The main competition is Mississippi and Clemson. Mississippi State is also in the mix.

Dominique Booth

Booth has very good separation off his routes and is most dangerous out in space. Tim Brewster liked his film and Lawrence Dawsey was pretty impressed with his physical blocking. FSU wasn't on the radar before the offer, but FSU has moved inside his top five now. Booth has family near Tallahassee and plans to visit in the spring.

Others in the mix:

D'haquille Williams, Travis Rudolph (Miami), Shaq Davidson, Saeed Blacknall, Krenwick Sanders (UGA)

Tight End

Jakell Mitchell

This position isn't a huge need or priority for FSU, but Mitchell would be one to keep an eye on. He has a tight relationship with another FSU target, DeShaun Davis. Both he and Davis will visit FSU for spring practice. Mitchell is a pure receiving tight end who is very high on Jeremy Pruitt and Tim Brewster. Once Brewster was hired, Mitchell started to really show the FSU staff a lot of attention and vice versa.

Mavin Saunders

Probably even better of a chance for Florida State at this position is Saunders, who Tim Brewster has been involved with in recruiting him since he was a sophomore. Saunders is a great receiving tight end who is exceptional when he's matched one-on-one with linebackers. He's not highly rated yet, but his stock is expected to rise.

Others in the mix:

Garrett Dickerson

Offensive tackle

Roderick Johnson

The Seminoles extended the offer about two or three weeks ago. He expects to visit FSU in the spring when he takes a few trips out in the South. He doesn't have a clear favorite, but grew up watching FSU. He's a prospect to watch. Expect him to move up the Rivals100. He plays with that mean streak that Trickett loves.

Chad Mavety

Without a doubt, Mavety is probably the top offensive tackle on the board for FSU. We mentioned earlier this week that he is close friends with FSU QB Sean Maguire and his main priority is playing time. Out of the schools he is considering, FSU offers the best opportunity with depth. FSU could be considered as one of his top three schools, along with Ohio State and Oklahoma.

David Sharpe

His grew up a Seminole fan and currently lists FSU and Florida as his two top schools, but I would also throw Alabama in the mix. But it is clear he would like to stay in state. He plans to attend one of FSU's spring practices next week. Playing time important and that's a major plus for FSU against UF, which is stacked at tackle.

Montell McBride

Another top in-state lineman who can easily play on both sides of the ball. Many teams are unsure where they like McBride the most. The 'Noles like McBride on either side of the ball. FSU is in his top three, along with Kentucky, but that list will blow up a lot bigger as the spring goes on. He is expected to camp at FSU.

Josh Allen

Allen holds offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech and North Carolina. He can also play guard, but FSU likes him more as a tackle. If FSU pushes, we are told they will be tough to beat according to people close to him.

Others in the mix:

Demetrius Knox (Texas), Damien Mama, Viane Talamaivao, Frank Ragnow

Defensive tackle

Lamont Gaillard

Gaillard holds offers from Alabama, Clemson and Florida. He is expected to visit FSU next week when spring practice begins. Florida will get a visit as well. Clemson, Alabama, FSU, UF are the teams most mentioned. He spoke with FSU a few times last week and was offered a week ago. He does not have a leader at this stage, but says development of players at his position is important.

Others in the mix:

Dontavius Russell, Dexter Wideman

Defensive end

Others in the mix
Andrew Trumbetti

Linebacker

Bryson Allen-Williams

FSU has quite a bit of work to do. The 'Noles are outside the top three, which include South Carolina as his leader followed by Alabama, then Georgia. Bryson has talked about visiting the FSU campus in the summer, but nothing has been set up yet.

Others in the mix:

Petera Wilson

Defensive tackle

Tony Brown

Naturally a five star corner that FSU would love to have but at this stage probably a long shot for FSU with Alabama, Texas, others holding the advantage. Brown has indicated a visit late in the spring but it would take a lot in moving up there with the big boys. FSU offered a few weeks ago.

Cornerback

Adoree Jackson

Another five-star corner, but once again FSU has a good amount of work do to catch up with Southern California, the team to beat. FSU offered this week and currently working hard to get a spring or early summer visit.

Mike Johnson

You could list Johnson for either corner or safety, but we believe more so with safety at this point when you see he's a physical and hard hitting safety that could play the boundary corner position at times. Johnson grew up a fan of the 'Noles and as long as FSU continues to push, it would be tough to see him going anywhere else. Johnson also picked up a Vanderbilt offer recently. Miami is the main competition.

Others in the mix:

Stephen Roberts
