Spring DL review: DT depth to be addressed in fall
The Canes did some shuffling at DL this spring, with Baraka Atkins moving from tackle to end, where he joined Bryan Pata as the first teamers.
Both are tackle-sized players, and with first-team tackles Kareem Brown and Teraz McCray it forms an oversized front four. McCray missed the spring game due to a knee injury, but is expected to be fine for the fall.
The front four linemen showed this spring that they are all athletic and quick off the ball while using their size to stop the run and still getting quarterback pressure.
There is solid depth at end. Calais Campbell and Eric Moncur are the backup ends, and both have starting experience. Moncur is one of the strongest Canes, and at 6-foot-8 Campbell is adept at getting his hands in passing lanes.
