Cougs add to quarterback collection
Standout quarterback Kevin Lopina has decided to play the rest of his college football at Washington State. Lopina had spent his redshirt year at Kansas State and announced in April that he was deciding to transfer back west after Coach Bill Snyder retired.
Out of De La Salle High in Concord, Calif., in 2005, Rivals had Lopina rated a three star player and the 18th ranked dual threat quarterback nationally. Lopina chose Kansas State after earlier committing to Oregon State. Out of high school, Lopina drew heavy recruiting interest with offers from OSU and KSU, as well as Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska to name just a few. Lopina did not play his freshman year at KSU, but as a senior in high school he threw for just over 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also rushed for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns.
