Wilks makes it six from Lakeland
Lakeland (FL) safety Steve Wilks has wanted to be a Gator since he was four years old, so when head coach Urban Meyer offered him a scholarship during his visit to Gainesville on Tuesday, he committed on the spot.
Wilkes' commitment makes him the sixth player to commit to the Gators from the talent-rich Lakeland High School. He joins Chris Rainey, James Pouncey , LaShawn Pouncey, Paul Wilson and Ahmad Black from last year's high school national championship squad.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Wilks was also considering Iowa and USF, but he wanted to join his teammates and play for his home state school.
