KU loss was a 'wake-up call'

While the memory of that gloomy Saturday afternoon and dreadful loss last November in Lawrence, Kan., is still prominently entrenched in the minds of Nebraska fans, NU players and coaches insist the words "payback" and "revenge" aren't in the team's vocabulary this week as the Huskers prepare for Saturday night's Big 12 Conference opener against the Jayhawks.
"Every year is different. Every year, every game is completely different," Nebraska head coach Bill Callahan told reporters Tuesday afternoon at his weekly press conference. "Our approach is one that looks forward to the Big 12, the start of Big 12 Conference play, the divisional game itself.
"All of our attention, focus and energy is directed on this year. What's happened in the past has happened in the past. Win, lose, tie, whatever, it's in the past. It has no relevance whatsoever to what we've got to get done on Saturday."
