Insider Report: Can FSU overcome the injury bug?
At the end of the Duke game the scoreboard read 51-24 in FSU's favor, but it could have also said "Injuries 5, FSU 0". When the dust settled, the Seminoles had five new players go down with a significant injury. At the time, the worst appeared to be a knee injury to starting weakside linebacker Geno Hayes.
The sophomore from Greenville, Florida went down in the first quarter while working on kickoff coverage. In attempting to make a tackle, his right leg got tangled up with another player and for a few minutes after the play he expected the worst.
"I thought I was done," Hayes said. "It went numb for a couple minutes so I thought I was done. When I got to the sidelines they said it's probably not that bad."
