Finding a groove
Junior running back James Johnson got off to a bit of a slow start this season after transferring to Kansas State from Blinn (Texas) Community College, but he's hit his stride as of late. Johnson has now turned in back-to-back 100-yard performances and will look to continue his success this weekend when the Wildcats travel to Colorado.
Johnson met with members of the media on Tuesday at the Vanier Football Complex and talked about what makes him a successful running back, his junior college career and this weekend's contest with the Buffaloes.
What do you bring to this offense right now?
"I think I bring a lot of speed and even a lot of experience, because I've been in college for a while. I've got a good feel for the game, and now I'm doing all right, thanks a lot to the offensive line."
Could you talk about the improvement in the running game the last two weeks?
"The offensive line has just been opening up holes for me and for Leon (Patton). You just have to give thanks and credit to those guys for what we've done. The offensive line has confidence and is believing in their abilities."
