Preparing the line
The USC offensive line is anchored by a pair of All-Americans in Ryan Kalil and Sam Baker. The unit struggled however in the season finale against the Bruins, where some depth issues finally came to light. Coach Pat Ruel talked to USCFootball.com about depth, redshirts, competition and the possible return of Matt Spanos.
The team is still in competition mode, keeping the guys fresh and letting everyone compete at their respective positions.
"We are getting some young players a lot of opportunities right now," Coach Ruel said. "We are trying to get back into the swing of playing football fast and in the Trojan way.
"We are progressing in the very early stages. We are not heavily into a game plan or anything right now, just working on technique and fundamentals trying to get our tempo back."
