Notebook: Smith picks up where he left off
Auburn WR Rod Smith isn't a stranger to catching touchdowns. The junior walk-on led the Tigers with four a year ago.
On Saturday, he picked up right where he left off.
On a fourth-and-goal play from the 6-yard line during Auburn's first scrimmage of the spring Saturday, Smith went up over DB Pat Lee and hauled in the Brandon Cox pass.
It was Smith's fourth catch of the scrimmage, a team-high.
"Before the play, coach Al Borges told me not to be huffing and puffing," said Smith. "He said we needed playmakers and that's what I wanted to do, make a play on the ball.
