Coach Steve Alford has been on the hunt for a point guard in the class of 2007 and last week his search took him to check in, once again, on Jeff Peterson of legendary DeMatha High School.

Peterson recently picked up an offer from the Hawkeyes and with his season officially ending this past weekend, he is moving towards making a college choice.

Peterson recently made an official visit to Iowa City and after growing up in Springfield, Miss., he felt very comfortable in the Midwest setting.

Iowa is not alone in trying to land Peterson in the signing period that starts next month. St. Louis and Xavier are still in the running.
