Spring football about to kickoff
Tomorrow the Bruins will be starting spring practice and it couldn't come at a better time. With many UCLA fans still smarting from last Saturday's loss on the hardwood to eventual NCAA champ Florida, getting out in the open air for a little football could be a healing tonic indeed.
The offensive side of the ball has the most mystery to it this spring as Coach Karl Dorrell hired a new offensive coordinator in Jay Norvell, a new offensive line coach Bob Connelly and wide receiver coach in Eric Scott.
Obviously it wouldn't be surprising if the offense doesn't look sharp with three new coaches going against DeWayne Walker's highly touted defense, but keys to look for are competitive fire and intensity.
As it has appeared over the last few years there will be a quarterback competition Ben Olson and Patrick Cowan.
Both players have spent a lot of off-season time with Norvell and their battle will once again draw much of the interest this spring.
