Butler is not your typical punter
Being a kicker or a punter might not be as glamorous as being a star at any of the other positions on a football team, but that does not make the guys that play these positions any less of a football player, and they are certainly just as important.
"I know there is definitely going to be a difference, but I try as hard as I can to not make it a difference," freshman Drew Butler says on the topic. "As far as running and lifting goes, I am going to do whatever I can. If it takes extra work, if it takes me pushing myself harder, then I am going to push myself so that I gain the respect of my teammates."
It was apparent early on that Butler wanted to make sure that he put in as much work in the weight room and with conditioning as a linebacker, tailback, or any offensive or defensive player. Rivals.com State of Georgia recruiting analyst Chad Simmons made it no secret that he was impressed by his work ethic when he visited Competitive Edge Sports to get a look at Butler and fellow freshmen Rennie Curran and Clint Boling last spring.
