Laying the groundwork
Contrary to its light opening day workout to kick off Fall Camp, the Cal football team conducted an aggressive two-and-a-half hour session Tuesday afternoon as players slowly started to get back into the flow of being on the field after months of summer workouts. Some of the highlights included a handful of leaping grabs by freshman Mike Calvin, a marvelous "combo" interception between two starters in the secondary and continued excellent play from the freshmen class.
Sharp from the Get-Go
Talk surrounding the Bears' wide receiving unit this season will undoubtedly fall into the hands of DeSean Jackson, Lavelle Hawkins and Robert Jordan. There's reason for that of course, as Jackson comes into the season a legitimate Heisman Trophy Candidate while Hawkins and Jordan - who are both seniors - will certainly contend for All-Conference honors by the end of the 2007 season.
