Benavides playing with injury
One Ole Miss commitment isn't allowing a pre-season surgery from keeping him on the gridiron this season.
Mario Benavides, an offensive lineman for Los Fresnos, Texas, injured his hand in the off-season, tearing a tendon. What was thought to perhaps keep him out a game or two hasn't been the case, instead the talented blocker has played with a cast.
"It takes a little getting use to," Benavides told RebelSports.net Sunday evening. "My first game I didn't do so well, I only had 10 or 12 pancake blocks. This last game I had over 15."
As far as the hand goes, it's in a solid cast that is wrapped with foam so Benavides can't use it as a weapon.
