Less than stellar
With no real TV on the game, this column is coming to you, as a service, during the BC-UMass game (even though you won't see it until the game is over). There's plenty of time to write it, because nothing is happening on the field.
There's 11:38 left in the first half and, so far, the most interesting thing going on here today is the pre-game discussion between BC alum Bob Ryan and UMass grad Steve Buckley, complete with a friendly, non-cash wager with Ryan giving Buckley two touchdowns.
If you didn't hear it, Buckley apparently told anyone who would listed on WEEI in the days leading up to the game that UMass would pull the upset. His school then went out and gained 27 yards in the first quarter.
At one point, when the refs made a couple of calls in a row against the Minutemen, Buckley cracked, "The refs have lost control of the game."
