Deja Vu, Texas style
Anyone remember the Bill Murray classic, "Groundhog Day"?
That's the one where he plays a Pittsburgh weatherman sent to Punxsutawney, Pa., to cover the Groundhog Day festivities. The next day, he wakes up to discover it's not the next day, but again Groundhog Day and he's still stuck in that same little town. No matter what he does, the next day he wakes up to discover its still Feb 2. He spends most of the movie trying to find ways to escape, but it doesn't work.
If there was a "Groundhog Day 2," it would star the OSU football program and Groundhog Day would be this past Saturday against the Texas Longhorns. Because, after this weekend, it just seems like no matter what the Cowboys try to do, they'll work up an early lead, only to end up finding a way to lose to the Horns. It happened in 2003, 2004, 2005 and in 2007 and OSU fans are starting to endure the same kind of cruel repetition that Murray felt in the movie. Is that worse than waking up over and over again to "I got you babe" from Sonny and Cher? That remains to be seen.
But just like popping out of bed to that song at 6 a.m., here we are left to dissect another painful loss to the Longhorns. Did that actually happen again? Did OSU actually blow another big lead to Texas? The answer is, unfortunately for the Cowboys, yes. Recently against UT, no lead has been safe and every touchdown scored is not worth enough points.
