Shannon Tevaga's emotions on high

Bruin senior offensive lineman Shannon Tevaga has been a starter since his true freshman year. This Saturday will be his last regular season game as a Bruin. It is an emotional time for many UCLA seniors as they get ready to don the Bruin uniform one last time against USC.

BruinBlitz.com caught up the Bruins senior guard for a moment after Wednesday practice.

BruinBlitz.com: This is your last regular game as a Bruin. Can you walk us through your emotions this week?

Tevaga: "It's real emotional. The senior day was real, real emotional at our last home game. Now knowing that this is my last regular game, it's sad, but at the same time excited to play the game.

"It has been a roller coaster my career here. It has been a fun one. It's real, real emotional. It's the last one.

"I've been playing this game, sometimes I forget that I played high school, I've been playing at UCLA so long, so it just emotional.

BruinBlitz.com: What is it like knowing that you are going up against USC, your archrival, for your last game?

Tevaga: "I'm real excited, I'm real, real excited. They're our rivals and what not and we are playing for something. We're playing for a bowl game and playing for the Pac 10 championship. It means a lot, especially, just beating SC means a lot.

BruinBlitz.com: Who are you going to be lined up against?

Tevaga: "I will be going up against both Fili Moala and Sedrick Ellis.

BruinBlitz.com: What do those guys do?

Tevaga: "They're both very quick guys and strong. They're good, they're really good.

BruinBlitz.com: What do you guys have to do to handle them?

Tevaga: "We just have to beat them off the ball and just come off the rock with fire. That's about it just off the ball and hit them.

BruinBlitz.com: Have you ever seen anything quite like this season's injuries?

Tevaga: "This is my first time ever having something wrong with me. I finally missed a game and it was the first time I have ever missed a game my whole entire life. I've never, ever been around something like this, never.

BruinBlitz.com: How was your time here at UCLA?

Tevaga: "It was a good one. It was a fun one. I love these boys (points at teammates walking off the field). The games are over, but my boys will always be there for me.

"So my time here has been an exciting one. I have met a lot of good people, a lot of great people that I will take with throughout my whole life.

BruinBlitz.com: What would a win on Saturday mean to you personally?

Tevaga: "Not only me, but the whole team. It means a lot. Not just this whole bowl game thing, it just means a lot because you are winning with people you love.

"Especially beating the rivals. Everywhere you SC this, SC that so it means a lot and it means a lot of pride. Let's do it for my boys.
