A homecoming for the Westerman brothers

This year's International Bowl will be sort of a homecoming for Jamaal and Jawan Westerman. The brothers grew up in Brampton, Ontario which is only about a thirty minute drive from Toronto. But the homecoming won't just involve family. When the Westerman brothers suit up for play tomorrow, they will be surrounded by over 100 of their closest friends and relatives.

"We have a lot of people that are coming to the game," said Jamaal Westerman. "My mom, my uncles, my brothers, cousins, friends, coaches, ex-players. A lot of guys are going to be supporting me and Rutgers. My mom said we listed like 150 people for tickets. I'm trying to do what I can do. Hopefully, we have a Westerman section."

This will be the third straight year in which Jamaal will play in a bowl game. However, in his first season as a walk-on freshman, going to a bowl game is very new to Jawan.

"Jawan's probably a little more excited than me. It's his first year, his first bowl game. He's just excited with the whole bowl atmosphere and going to the city of Toronto," said Westerman.

Although a couple of years separate the brothers, they still remain close. Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano shared some insight on the duo.

"I see them in the locker room together and I always go over and poke fun at them," said Schiano. "They're very close. It's neat to see them. Jamaal protects him, you can see."
