Smith talks about his Michigan pledge
San Antonio - For the last two months, football recruiting observers in the state of New Jersey were convinced New Brunwick, N.J., four-star safety Brandon Smith was starting to give Rutgers a sizable lead for his services. The 6-3, 215-pound Smith proved those pundits wrong Saturday, announcing for Michigan at the U.S. Army All-American game.
Smith lined up Michigan, South Carolina and Rutgers hats on the table in front of him for the announcement that occurred in the first quarter of a game that was aired on NBC. He picked up the Michigan hat gave it to his mother and said, "Next year, I'll be a Wolverine, baby."
