James a Duck
One of the hottest remaining prospects in the nation is Texarkana (Texas) Liberty-Eylau all-purpose back LaMichael James. The 5-foot-9, 180-pounder took his fourth official visit this past weekend to see the University of Oregon, and after that has made his decision.
Duck Sports Authority caught up with the Texas standout who made honorable mention All-State despite only playing in nine games due to an early season injury.
"Yes sir, I committed to the Ducks."
Prowling the State of Texas this year for the Ducks has been Oregon's new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Kelly has already received verbal commitments from three other Lone Star State recruits, Mesquite quarterback Kelly Page, Southlake wide receiver Blake Cantu and quarterback Darron Thomas from Aldine.
"Coach Kelly was my primary recruiter. I've been talking to him for a couple months."
While Texas has not been a recruiting hotbed for the Ducks prior to this season, the four commitments Coach Kelly has picked up have been aided by the players on the field.
"The first thing that caught my eye about Oregon was Dennis Dixon. I got to see a couple of their games this year."
The kind of offense the Ducks run also played a factor in the star running back's decision.
"The spread is good for me. I'm too small to be an I-guy, so I'll get to move around and even catch the ball out of the backfield."
Stay tuned to Duck Sports Authority as recruiting makes its stretch run.
