2010 QB making noise in Houston
Houston Second Baptist is not a normal stop on the itinerary of college recruiters. The last prospect from the school to sign a Division I letter-of-intent was former Texas Tech and current Saskatchewan Roughrider offensive lineman Glenn January.
However, this spring was different at the small private school. Head coach Mike Snead saw his office become a regular stop among the top programs in the nation. The player they were all coming to see is still a sophomore in high school. Class of 2010 quarterback Connor Wood has become a hot commodity already.
"Gary Crowton from LSU, Major Applewhite from Texas and Josh Heupel from Oklahoma were all there the same day a couple weeks ago," said the 6-foot-4, 201 pound signal-caller. "A coach from Vanderbilt came by. Coach (Craig) Kuligowski from Missouri was there. A guy from Arizona came. Rice came by. Those are the ones that I noticed this spring.
"I know that Texas A&M has talked to my coach and came by. Florida talked to him as well. Coach Snead talked to Mark Richt at Georgia the other day, too."
