Special Teams saves the day for FSU
With the offense still trying to find its rhythm, Bobby Bowden's Seminoles needed more than just another solid effort from the defense to win Saturday. While Mickey Andrews' squad did well for the most part, it was the special teams that stole the show in FSU's 39-21 win over Colorado.
When the dust settled the Seminoles had a kickoff return for a touchdown, a punt block and were three-for-three on field goal attempts. More importantly, every big play on special teams turned the emotional tide of the game towards the Garnet and Gold.
"They might have saved us," head coach Bobby Bowden said of the special teams. "The safety (on the punt block) was so important. The kickoff return was so important. The field goals were so important. The 52 yard field goal was real important. Half of us were screaming punt punt punt and the other half of us was screaming kick kick kick."
