Stewart acknowledges Brown, takes responsibility
West Virginia coach Bill Stewart said that quarterback Jarrett Brown was at "about 60 percent" efficiency last Saturday when the Mountaineers defeated Syracuse 17-6 in Big East Conference play.
He added he was not using the injury as an excuse, and accepted blame for the offensive display.
The 6-4, 220-pound redshirt junior earned the start late last week when it was decided that regular Pat White, who is 29-6 as a starter, was not healthy enough to line up against the 0-2, 1-5 Orange. White was suffering the after-effects of an apparent concussion, which occurred in the Oct. 4 Rutgers game.
