Strong first start for freshman corner
D'Antoine Hood played just a few snaps on defense the first eight games of the season.
Saturday at Ole Miss, Auburn's true freshman cornerback played all 71 snaps.
"It was my first start and it was on the road, but my mind set was to go out there, be positive, whatever happens just play the next play," Hood said.
"I felt like I did all right, but I feel like I messed up a couple times, pass interference and stuff like that."
Injuries to starting cornerback Jerraud Powers and key backup Neiko Thorpe forced Hood into the starting lineup.
"Sunday when I came in, they told me that Jerraud's hamstring was pretty banged up, so there were like, 'Hood, we're counting on you.' So I said, 'I'm ready to go,'" Hood said.
Hood finished the game six tackles and a pass breakup. He was flagged for one pass interference penalty.
