Pat 'chips in' for record, victory
LOUISVILLE--Though some may have indicated otherwise, West Virginia's Pat White seemed to want this game a little more than maybe some others.
"You should have seen him LAST week," said offensive coordinator Jeff Mullen, his eyes wide. "Last week" was "last game" when the Mountaineers were edged by Cincinnati 26-23 when the magical White almost pulled out a win in overtime.
But whether it was that OT defeat, or the fact that some of the Louisville Cardinals were doing some chirping during this game, there were slight cracks in the White facade as he nonetheless led his team to a 35-21 win. En route, he became the all-time NCAA career quarterback rusher with an even 200 yards on the day, a 9.5 average.
