Last Waltz: Is Pat White a future NFL QB?
MORGANTOWN--Now the NCAA's all-time leading rusher among quarterbacks, Pat White has secured his place in the pantheon of college football greats. But does West Virginia University's legendary signal-caller have what it takes to carve out a career at the next level? If he does, will it be as a quarterback, wide receiver, or -gasp- centerfielder?
Ask five people that question, and you'll get five different answers.
Of course, few WVU fans are of the opinion that White will drift off into the sunset after he leaves Morgantown. After all, those fans have seen White escape the inevitable (engineering West Virginia's come-from-behind, triple-overtime win over Louisville in 2005), pull off the improbable (topping 200 yards in both rushing and passing against Pittsburgh in 2006), and spearhead what is already guaranteed to be the most successful four-season stanza in Mountaineer football history (40-9 with a regular season and a bowl game to go).
