Mullen to announce staff additions soon
New Mississippi State head football coach Dan Mullen could have the first additions to his staff as early as today.
Mullen said Saturday night that he has interviewed several candidates after making four staff moves on Friday.
"I had to let a couple of people go from the previous staff," Mullen said. "In the next couple of days here, (today), we are going to have some announcements of some guys coming on board for us."
Mullen chose not keep assistant coaches J.B. Grimes, Pat Washington, Louis Campbell or coordinator of football operations Brad Pendergrass on his staff for next season.
After arriving in Starkville on Wednesday afternoon, Mullen has hit the ground running going on a statewide tour as well as hitting the recruiting trail and interviewing potential candidates for his coaching staff.
"It's been a crazy pace," Mullen said. "That's what I expected coming in here right now. You're not going to get it all done in one day. As a coach, you are paranoid all the time. I'm trying to go as fast and as hard as I can because there are a lot of things we've got to get done. Right now all of my focus has been on getting a staff in place and making sure all the recruits have been talked to and are excited still about coming here and getting everything ready to roll."
Mullen mentioned that several interviews had already taken place for several coaching vacancies on his staff.
