This weekend's Champs Sports Bowl between Florida State and Wisconsin in Orlando is a very intriguing matchup. It will pit the power game of the Big Ten against the speed of the South. I am looking forward to seeing how Florida State's defense fares against the Badgers power running game. Boston College's big offensive line (Wisconsin is even bigger) controlled the line of scrimmage this season when they were matched up against the smaller defense of the Seminoles. This will be a similar test for the FSU D. Wisconsin will, no doubt, try to take advantage of the off-tackle running game because of the outside rush of the Seminole defensive ends. The Florida State linebackers and safeties will have to help with run support to try and force Wisconsin into passing situations. Florida State will have an advantage if they can force Wisconsin into one dimensional football. The Badgers know this and will definitely be committed to the running game. Wisconsin has been very effective on the offensive side of the ball, but has struggled at times on defense.
