Russell talks about his weekend visit
When four-star quarterback Tyler Russell made the announcement a couple of weeks ago that he was solid in his commitment the entire Bulldog nation seemed to rejoice.
Russell was on campus for his official visit this weekend even more excited about joining the fold with the commitments of Chad Bumphis, Dennis Thames and LaDarius Perkins.
"I don't think it could have been a better weekend with those three guys committing," Russell said. "That's really one of the big reason Coach (Dan) Mullen wanted all of us guys to be together this weekend. We had a blast and we ending it off right with those guys committing. We've still got a couple more guys who are trying to decide but I think everything will be fine."
The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder from Meridian, Miss., was one of the 16 prospects that visited the Starkville campus this weekend.
"Mainly it was just fun being around all the guys," Russell said. "We mostly all know each other so that was the fun thing about it. They just toured us around the university, the football facilities, the academic center and things like that."
Another stop the recruits made was to the Humphrey Coliseum Saturday night to take in the MSU-Vanderbilt basketball game. When the horn sounded for the first media timeout, the recruits made their way to their seats to a standing ovation from the Bulldog faithful.
