Smith plays role of recruiter
Four-star wide receiver Chris Smith was one of the first commitments to jump on board for Mississippi State in the 2009 class.
Now the 6-1, 190-pounder from Meridian, Miss., will play the role of recruiter on his weekend visit to campus. Smith will try to sway several recruits that are visiting that the Bulldogs are the team of the future in the Southeastern Conference.
"I'm going to try to encourage those guys that this where they need to be," Smith said. "I've got to recruit too. I was one of the first to commit so I've got to make everybody else want to come too. I know I'm coming I just have to get everybody else to see what I'm seeing."
This weekend is the only visit that Smith had planned and plans on making the most of it.
"I'm really looking forward to this weekend," Smith said. "I'm looking forward to meeting more of the coaches on Coach (Dan) Mullen's staff. I'm looking forward to having my family see the campus. I've already looked at it and seen it because I went to the camps over the summer. I'm just looking forward to it. I already know that it is going to be fun."
Smith will spend this weekend building relationships and bonds with the people he plans on spending the next four years with.
