Klinke helps Katy end North Shore's historic run
North Shore came into Saturday night's match-up at Katy with a Texas state record 78 consecutive regular season wins. Katy entered as the No. 1 ranked team in the state and No. 6 nationally in the RivalsHigh100. While North Shore was ranked No. 29 in the same poll, it was Katy that left with a 9-7 victory, ending the Mustangs' historic run.
The game was not settled until the final minute. After a fierce defensive battle the entire contest, it came down to a simple special teams mistake by North Shore with 52 seconds left in the game. A bad snap sailed over the head of the Mustang punter, resulting in a safety and giving the Tigers the win. Katy offensive tackle and Texas A&M commit Shep Klinke says it was somewhat of a surreal feeling watching the error decide such a big game.
