Notebook: Big night for Burns
Kodi Burns did it all Saturday night.
Auburn's junior "receiver" accounted for four touchdowns in the SEC opener against Mississippi State -- three rushing and one passing -- and had his first career reception.
"I've said all along he's versatile and can do a lot of different things and now you can see that," offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn said.
Burns four touchdowns all came out of the Wildcat formation, coming on three 1-yard runs and a 13-yard pass to a wide open Philip Lutzenkirchen.
Burns was moved to wide receiver last month after losing out on the starting job to Chris Todd. At the time, he had a lot of questions about his role in the offense. Those questions have certainly been answered through the first two games with Burns not accounting for six total TD's.
Burns, however, is not one to brag on himself.
