'D' a cause for concern?
EVANSTON-In the dark ages of Northwestern football, people used to call it a moral victory if the Wildcats kept a game close and lost by less than what was expected. So maybe Saturday's 27-24 victory over Eastern Michigan should be considered a moral loss of sorts.
Stefan Demos saved the day with a 49-yard field goal with six seconds left, but that doesn't disguise the fact that Northwestern blew a 21-point lead and had to hang on for dear life after being outscored 24-6 over the last 35-plus minutes of football by a team that was supposed to be a pushover.
To put it another way, Northwestern lost a couple front teeth trying to chew up a cream puff.
