As well as the Seminoles played in Saturday's 54-28 win over previously No. 7 ranked BYU, it was hardly a dominating performance on both sides of the football.
While the 'Noles moved the ball at will against the Cougars and racked up over 500 yards of offense, the defense, specifically the pass defense, was sliced and diced by big plays. That ability to defend against the vertical passing game has been FSU's Achilles' heel since the season opener against Miami when Jacory Harris picked apart the Seminole secondary to the tune of 386 yards and 38 points. Those numbers included four pass plays of 30 or more yards.
