McKinney continues camp circuit
Atlanta three-star offensive tackle Quincy McKinney had no idea his recruitment would turn out the way that he has.
Sure the 6-foot-4, 295-pounder knew he would get some looks and opportunities but 16 offers has surprised even him.
"I didn't know what to expect as far as how many offers," McKinney said. "I knew that I was going to get exposed but I didn't know how the college coaches would go through the process. I didn't know I was going to have this many offers. I worked all of my freshman, sophomore and junior years for it to get like that. I've worked hard for it."
McKinney has received offers from Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Rutgers, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky.
Over the past few weeks McKinney has been making the rounds to several schools visiting Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Florida State. But Mississippi State's campus seemed to stand out above the rest.
"I went up there for one of their camps with one of my teammates, Riyahd Jones who is committed to Kentucky," McKinney said. "That was my first time going to Starkville. I'd say that was the most beautiful campus I have been to. I've been to about 10 schools and that's the most beautiful looking campus I've seen out of any school. I didn't know what to expect from Mississippi State because I really don't hear much about them. When I were there I was like 'wow this is a beautiful campus'."
McKinney met with several of MSU's coaching staff while on his unofficial visit including head coach Dan Mullen, offensive line coach John Hevesy and his recruiting coach Scott Sallach.
