Mullen talking Blazers
During Mississippi State's six game winning streak in 2010 there was one game that the Bulldogs nearly had a slip up.
UAB battled the Bulldogs down to the wire in Starkville but MSU held on for a 29-24 victory. Now Dan Mullen and his Bulldogs will try to get another win but this time on the road in Birmingham.
"If you look it was a real tight game with them last year," Mullen said. "I think confidence-wise they think they can play with us. I think they have 14 seniors starting on offense and defense so they have experience and veteran players. When you watch them play this year they've come up on the short end in a couple of games but they've been right there. A play or two different and their season is very different than it is now. They are a talented team that I'm sure believes they are going to beat us and because of what happened last year and all the senior leadership they have on their squad."
The Blazers are 0-4 on the year have featured two quarterbacks this season but have yet to throw a touchdown pass. Senior Bryan Ellis is UAB's starter completing 55.3-percent of his passes for 463 yards and three interceptions.
Ellis however missed last week's 24-23 loss on the road to Troy. Sophomore Johnathan Perry got the start hitting on 19-of-39 passing for 196 yards and one interception against the Trojans. Perry is also UAB's third leading rusher on the year with 23 carries for 42 yards and a touchdown.
