Series history: OU leads the overall series, 38-16-2.
Head Coach: Dan Hawkins is in his first season as CU head coach. His 1-6 (1-2) record is a step back after last season's 7-6 (5-3) season.
Colorado's top offensive player: Most accurately described as a "pinball," Hugh Charles (5-8, 190) is capable of bouncing off of tacklers and going the distance. He's the key to the Buffs offense. The junior tailback was a preseason second-team All Big 12 selection by The Sporting News. As a sophomore, he rushed for 891 yards, while adding 226 yards receiving. On the season, Charles has 504 yards on the ground, and he is averaging 5.6 yards a carry.
Greatest area of strength for the Colorado's offense: If the Buffs are to win, the herd is going to have to run, and run well, against the OU defense. CU's rushing offense is averaging 167.7 yards on the ground, which is good for 30th in the nation.
Dual-threat "Action Jackson": Although the offense depends on the play of Charles to add balance, quarterback Bernard Jackson (6-0, 200) is the player to key on. While the OU defense has had its share of troubles with dual-threat quarterbacks, OU has successfully demonstrated a "bend but don't break method." Through the air and rushing, Jackson has accumulated over 1,000 yards and seven total touchdowns.
